Lizzie the Musical

This was one of my first shows, a punk musical staged in a repurposed warehouse. I was joined the team 10 days before tech, and the editing, timing and shot choice are sloppy by my standards today. But I keep this show in my portfolio because it taught me that the impact your work leaves on people has zero correlation with how long you spent making it, and that the best theatrical moments come from the heart, not the brain. One of the most cathartic cues in the show (the fire at the peak of Burn the Old Thing Up) was a mapping mistake from Wednesday's rehearsal that the director demanded I leave in (he was right). Years later, people still bring this show up unprompted when they meet me. I will never forget it.
